I like HP. I had some period where I cant sleep in night, so I always reread all parts of HP that I like. I once fall asleep on Harry potter 4. :3 Harry potter was also first book that I read( sometime in first class) Like I say, Harry potter is very good. Not like " look at her friends that are talking about sparkling wampires" SOMETHING.
I went to a resale book shop the other day to sell my Twilight series books. (because, yes, I used to like them. And I also sold my copy of The Host because, damn, do I hate that book.) While I was waiting to know how much they would give me, I wandered into the YA section. All the HP books were gone, except a couple. (I bought a new copy of Chamber of Secrets since mine had just recently fallen apart on me.) There were, like, a bazilliion copies of Twilight.
When I got my offer it wasn't very much. The man said they were getting a lot of copies of Twilight in, everyday.
I think HP will win this "eternal glory" battle. After all, Harry won the Triwizard Tournament and that was one of the prizes anyway!
Although I feel kind of bad now... I just got a super epic vampire knitting book, because it has some AMAZING patterns. But it's also blatantly written in the Twilight font... But I love vampires. SOOOO much. (Just the non-sparkling kind.)
I love vampires, too. But the sparkling....no....just no. I'm borderline changing the race of one or more of the character in my little story I'm rewriting right now because I don't want people being all "OMG TWILIGHT" or "TWILIGHT IZ BETTUR. VAMPIRES R SUPPOSD 2 SPARKL DUH." And, unfortunately, since Twilight came out, EVERYONE wants to write about vampys now.
Haha, yeah. I've got some vampires and they're much more similar to the Anne Rice ones. The main one, he makes a huge joke out of it and he loves to read vampire literature and laugh at it, sine he's so old. (His favorite book is Dracula and sometimes he forces his friends to listen to dramatic readings.) I wrote this really funny story where he covered himself in glitter glue and wandered around some Twi-hards. (Just had to be careful he didn't stay out TOO long, though, or else he'd burn up!) And then he attacked one because she was so freaking annoying.
My vamps usually vary. I have one that, if I don't change his race, is a very violent vampire, what with the bloodlust and stuff (as they should be; no sparkles included). They can withstand the daylight, and the "tamer" ones usually have mixed drinks with blood components in them. I guess mine are a cross of Vampire Knight meets Vampire Academy meets kinda-sorta Anne Rice. Hard to say. They differ from the norm, but, I don't like following norms.
And you should read it. It's really good. None of this sparkling vampire bullshit. The author, Richelle Mead, just recently came out with the first book of the spin-off series, Bloodlines. I finished it last night. It was good, too! 8D So I definitely recommend it. It's not Anne Rice, but hey. Still good. I guess I kinda have a problem with Anne Rice atm because she adamently forbids people from writing fan fics about her stories... I don't know how you can forbid people to write, but I guess she has her reasons.... I'd personally be flattere.
I've been thinking about doing an edit and then posting...
Cool! My vampires... I put a lot of work into them, because they're part of this huge, ginormus mythology of gods and goddesses. So, it's stupid (Came up with it in 7th grade) but the main one is the vampire "god" because he was the first vampire. And they can go out in sunlight for a bit, but only a very short bit, depending on the heat and height of the sun and cloud covering etc. Stakes, beheading, and fire kill them. And garlic is nasty but non-lethal. And they have kids, which some people don't like for vamps, but... I wanted a half vampire. Who was then turned into a full vampire. Her name is Claudaria and she is epic.
Okay! I'll try and check it out.
Yeah, I agree. That is a bit annoying... Oh well. Actually, Claudaria's name was originally Claudia, because I had just read my first Anne Rice. But then I changed it because her dad is a weirdo. (He admits, when he's annoyed with her at one point, that if she had been a boy, her name would have been Lestat.)
My vampires are like the ones in Vampire Academy (kinda). They won't die from old age/disease, but they can be killed with special weapons made of silver (mostly stakes). They usually die from blood loss. I have a system in place in these worlds I've created (called Umbra/Lumen; which is Latin for Dark/Light, hurr hurr) where there's pure-breeds, half-breeds, humans, and something called third-breeds, which, if you think about it, is pretty self explanatory: they have three different races in their blood. My primary vamps are both pure-breed, and one is very arrogant about it and flaunts it (reminds me of the pure-bloods in Harry Potter 8D). He's the evil, bloodlust vamp. His name is Blaine. The other is Night, and he's fairly "eh" about his breed purity. Not really modest, but he doesn't think it's such a big deal.
You definitely should!! I couldn't put them down!
Haha. Lestat. And I love the name Claudaria; very original. I don't think I've heard that name before.
Amen to that! Twilight reeks worse than barrel of dead skunks, while Harry most definatly does not stink! I've only seen one Twilight movie, and that's because my sister picked it, and it was a pathetically sappy love story. However, I have read all seven books and seen all HP movies to date, and they were infinitly better!
i wish i could fave this stamp millions of times!!<333 Harry Potter rocks!!!!!Twilight sucks!! I really dunno why this frikkin' Twilight is gettin' so popular, vampires don't sparkle and the books are crappy as hell!!!First time i read a Twilight book i remained freaked out for 6 weeks I'm also teh only Twilight hater in mah class .w." But Harry Potter is epic-pwn!!!!!!I read 2 books and watched 3 movies...it's awesome Thank u sooooooooooooo much 4 makin' this stamp!!!!!!!!!!
